About the Bachelor

The Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunication Technologies and Services Engineering is a four years duration bachelor and 240 ECTS credits according to the current curriculum at UPM.

General characteristics

Teaching is of actual type and main teaching language is Spanish. 250 Places available are offered.

This degree qualification will enable the graduate to pursue the regulated profession of Telecommunications Engineer, Order CIN / 352/2009, of 9 February a function of the route followed by the student specialty.

The Bachelor is, together with the Master of Telecommunication Engineering, adaptation to the new regulatory framework established by the Organic Law 4/2007 amending the LOU and Royal Decree 1393/2007 establishing the organization of education official university, the title of Telecommunications Engineer who has been taught in the ETSIT-UPM since it’s founding in 1957. Its justification is based on the interest in the field of Telecommunications in today's society of Information Technology and communications technology (ICT).

All graduates of this degree will fulfill the requirements for access to Master studies in Telecommunications Engineering established in section 4.2.1 of the Order CIN / 355/2009 laying down the requirements for verification of official university degrees are set that qualify for the practice of the profession of Telecommunications Engineer.

Professional interest is evidenced by the existence of two regulated professions (Telecommunications Engineering and Technical Telecommunications Engineering) with specific legal powers, which have their respective professional associations, enjoy high demand in the business world and are internationally recognized. Current graduates of these professions enjoy high employment, high dedication to technical tasks adjusted to their training.

Academic interest is demonstrated by the existence in the Official List of Qualifications of Telecommunications Engineering and Technical Telecommunications Engineering (in its different specialties) given in various public and private Spanish universities, for a total of 85 titles. The whole Bachelor degree and Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering coincides objectives and content, with the aforementioned qualifications.

The scientific interest of this degree is related to the interest that the Information Technologies and Communications arise in the scientific community. Of the numerous indicators of that interest may be mentioned the definition in the current "National R + D + I", a Strategic Action dedicated to this subject, that of "Telecommunications and Information Society" or intense activity that scientific research and development in these technologies, is carried out in the ETSIT-UPM, and can be consulted in the Observatory research UPM.
